The UConn women’s hockey team split a pair of games this weekend against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
On Friday, four different Huskies scored to take a 4-1 victory. Freshman Natalie Snodgrass is now tied with Briana Colangelo for leading the team in goals (four), assists (five) and points (nine). The other scorers Friday night were team captain Justine Fredette, Rebecca Lindblad, and Theresa Knutson.
“Any scoring is good,” said head coach Chris MacKenzie. “I’m happy to see, you know, Rebecca Lindblad get on the board, Natalie, Justine Fredette. Any goal scoring is important but it is nice to see we’re getting it by different lines. I’m really happy with that.”
The second period was an important one for the Huskies (4-3-2, 0-2-1 Hockey East) as they scored three goals in the period.
“We want to take this win, learn from it and really refocus and get ready for tomorrow,” MacKenzie said after the game.
The next day the Huskies took on RPI (3-5-2, 1-0-1 ECAC) at 3 p.m. and finished with an even 0-0 score.

Sophomore goaltender Morgan Fisher recorded 30 saves in the shutout. The 30 saves tied her career high.
After the game MacKenzie talked about Fisher’s efforts.
“She probably had five or six big time saves…if we can get that everytime she plays, I’ll be a very happy coach,” MacKenzie said.
It was her second shutout of the season. RPI goaltender Lovisa Selander recorded 28 saves.
“The only thing I’d want to change from today is maybe have a better start than our first 20 minutes,” MacKenzie said. “I liked the last 45 minutes of the game. I thought we had a lot of good chances.”
In the first period the UConn defense allowed 12 shots. This lowered in the second period with UConn allowing just six.
In the second period UConn had nine shots over the first five minutes but weren’t able to convert.
In the extra period RPI held a slight 3-2 edge in shots.
The Huskies play next on Friday against Boston University at 7 p.m.
