To support students and families in Puerto Rico, the University of Connecticut’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions is working with Autopista Americas to host a college application week in San Juan from Dec. 11-15.
Autopista Americas, an academic corporate consulting firm, works with over 100 higher education institutions to provide students across the Americas with opportunities to apply to higher educational institutions.
According to UConn’s Director of Undergraduate Admissions, Nathan Fuerst, UConn partnered with Autopista along with 60 other universities to set up an “Application Strong” week to assist students in the college admission process and submitting FAFSA forms.
“As we all know, much of the island remains without power. However, we are aware that many schools have reopened despite having no power,” Fuerst said. “That being the case, given that most application processes require access to internet, as does the FAFSA, Autopista is bussing students from areas of the island without power to the designated locations, where university representatives can assist them with the Common Application and the FAFSA.”
UConn’s Division of Student Affairs has also collected donations for Puerto Rico and will provide each student who attends the Application Strong week with a bag of supplies and toiletries requested by Unidos Por Puerto Rico, according to the Division of Student Affairs website.
