The UConn lacrosse team lost to No. 24 UMass 12-11 on Saturday afternoon in a hard-fought game.
It was the Huskies first home loss of the season and their third loss to a ranked opponent. UConn now sits with an even record of 3-3.
Despite the loss, there has been a shining star on the team this season, or rather, for the past four seasons.
Senior attacker Grace Nolan has been a reliable and steady player over the years who has proved herself to be one of the best players in the conference.
Her freshman year in 2015, Nolan started all 18 games and was the Big East Rookie of the Year. Nolan scored 46 points her freshman year off of 26 goals and 20 assists. Her 20 assists were the most ever in program history for a freshman.
As a sophomore and junior, Nolan also started all of her games and was named to the IWCLA All-Northeast First Team and the All Big East First Team.
In Saturday’s game, Nolan scored four points off of two goals and two assists. She now sits second in program history in points (218) and assists (83) all time.
Saturday’s game was also the UConn teams One Love Awareness Game. According to the women’s lacrosse website: “The one love foundation is working to end relationship violence by educating, empowering and activating young people in a movement for change.”
Next up for UConn is a three game road stint starting with UAlbany on March 7.
