The Undergraduate Student Government will hold a special election to fill vacant seats in the Senate from Nov. 6 to Nov. 8.
Not every seat was filled during USG’s first election on Sept. 19, said USG Parliamentarian Fiorella Contreras. USG is looking to fill 40 out of 82 spots that are currently vacant.

““I believe it’s our civic duty to participate in our local student government, whether it be by voting or running for public office,” Alumni Senator Ethan Werstler said. “I call upon the undergraduate student body to vote on USG election day by visiting vote.uconn.edu.””
Students can also go to vote.uconn.edu and find out what seats are open under the special election tab.
“I encourage students to go to USG’s website, and, if they are eligible, to run for a spot for in the USG senate,” Contreras said.
According to USG’s website, the constituencies with the most available seats are commuters, Hilltop residents, Towers residents and ACES members. Positions are available in nine schools and 15 residence areas.
The governing board of USG will decide the agenda for the organization on Sunday night.
“The committees bring legislation and their interests to the senate, and the senate in turns votes on the resolution,” Speaker of the Senate Josh Crow said. “If the senate confirms it, then it goes to the president of USG for approval.”
Crow said while they have not set the agenda yet, there are many issues USG hopes to address this year. USG’s highest priorities include transportation, exam schedules, clean campus environment and mental health awareness, according to Crow.
