Natalie Snodgrass is currently a sophomore at the University of Connecticut and one of the stars of the women’s hockey team, scoring three goals and assisting nine others so far this season. Last week, she took some time to sit down and talk with me about her life and playing career.

Jorge Eckardt: What’s your major and why did you choose it?

Natalie Snodgrass: Allied health sciences. I honestly have no idea what I want to do with that, but I’m interested in doing some nursing or something like that.

JE: What did it mean to be named to the Pro Ambitions All-Rookie team last year?

NS: I thought it was a very big accomplishment for me. I worked very hard all year for that and to be recognized along with the other girls. I think it was a big milestone, but I’m just trying to prove myself again this year.

JE: How would you describe yourself as a player?

NS: I’d say I’m a very offensive oriented player. I’m very aggressive, kind of mean sometimes, but yeah, a shoot-first player, love to score, love to celebrate with my teammates.

JE: Do you have any pregame rituals?

NS: I’m very superstitious, so I have to get coffee every game day, I have to tape my stick the same way, listen to the same playlist.

JE: What is your favorite UConn hockey memory?

NS: Beating BC last year in the semi-finals to go to the Hockey East Championship.

JE: If you could play any other sport what would it be?

NS: Gymnastics, 100 percent.

JE: Who is your favorite professional athlete? Why?

NS: Meghan Duggan. She’s the captain of the Olympic hockey team. I’ve met her a few times. She’s a great person, really inspiring. We obviously relate in the hockey world, so I just definitely want to follow in those footsteps one day.

JE: What is your favorite place around campus to eat?

NS: Dog Lane Café.

JE: How about Dairy Bar flavor?

NS: Classic mint-chip.

JE: Who is your favorite artist?

NS: I’m on a Post Malone vibe right now.

JE: Do you have a favorite song of his?

NS: Rich & Sad.

JE: Favorite movie?

NS: I’m a little weird. I like Deadpool.

JE: Favorite TV show?

NS: I’d say Grey’s Anatomy.

JE: Do you prefer Coke or Pepsi?

NS: Coke, 100 percent.

JE: If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?

NS: Switzerland.
