The UConn women’s hockey team (9-9-1, 4-7-1 Hockey East) returned from its winter break to take on the Dartmouth Big Green (3-10-1) on Saturday in their final non-conference game of the season.

In their first game since Dec. 1, the Huskies were in complete control. They earned a convincing 4-1 victory over Dartmouth.

Sophomore Natalie Snodgrass had a huge game, recording both the first and the last UConn goals of the game. The two goals brought her total to five on the season, and she is now tied for the team lead in points with 15. Both goals were assisted by freshman Viki Harkness, who now has eight assists this season.

The other goals for the Huskies were scored by junior Leona Sim and sophomore Savannah Bouzide. It was Sim’s third goal of the season and Bouzide’s sixth. A lot of different Huskies got on the scoresheet as Sim’s goal came on assists from freshman Camryn Wong and senior Nora Maclaine, while Bouzide’s came on assists by sophomore Morgan Wabick and junior Briana Colangelo.

Junior goaltender Morgan Fisher had a nice day in net, recording 27 saves and allowing just the one Dartmouth goal en route to UConn’s ninth win of the season.

Head coach Chris MacKenzie touched upon what he is looking for his team to work on in the second half of the season.

“A big focus for us will be our transition game to both defense and offense,” he said. “We’d like to continue our strong play in special teams.”

There is nothing but conference games left on the schedule for the Huskies, which gives the team a great opportunity to better their place in the Hockey East standings, where they are currently sixth.

Next, UConn will face off with Holy Cross for a home-and-home series next Friday and Saturday. The Huskies won the first meeting back in October, 7-2.
