Syracuse will be hosting UConn at the Carrier Dome for two consecutive seasons, kicking off the season for both teams Friday, Feb. 8. The Huskies ended last season 8-9, while the Orange finished the season 9-10. The Orange secured a 23-11 win in last season’s opener against the Huskies and are returning three of their top scorers from last season, including Emily Hawryschuk, who was named to the All-ACC First team last season.

The 2019 season will be the first season in which the Huskies will be switching conferences from the Big East to the American Athletic Conference. The Huskies were placed third in the AAC preseason poll, and have three players named to preseason all-conference team. Midfielder Sydney Watson was a unanimous pick in this selection process. Junior midfielder Olivia Miles and senior attack Caitlin Leary were also selected for the team.

As a sophomore, Watson will be heavily relied on and expected to perform well. She ended her freshman season with 40 points. Watson, Miles and Leary had a combined 126 points to finish last season. Entering her ninth season as the Huskies head coach, Katie Woods will be looking for her team to start the season in nothing other than a win.
