The HuskyTHON team is continuing to raise funds and prepare for the annual HuskyTHON event with Morale Leaders’ dance practices.
“We all learn this one dance we do throughout the night that keeps moral up the whole night which is one small part of our job,” HuskyTHON Co-Executive Director Natalie Wickenheisser said.
Wickenheisser said there are 120 Morale Captains.
According to the HuskyTHON website: “The Morale Team is made up of a small group of individuals who are considered leaders not only on the night of the event, but throughout the entire academic year leading up to it.”
“We are gearing up for a big fundraising push day on Wednesday where we are trying to raise $150,000 in one day,” HuskyTHON Co-Executive Director Kailey Cox said. “We ask every dancer to raise $100 to help contribute to that $150,000 goal.”
According to Cox, The Day of Strength is the biggest fundraising day.
“It really creates momentum, and after that, we are only about 10 days away from HuskyTHON at that point,” Cox said. “From there it is a campus-wide push to get everyone to participate and it is the last chance to register.”
According to HuskyTHON’s (https://huskython.org/) website, the 24-hour dance marathon begins on Feb. 23 at 12 p.m. The money donated goes to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Last year HuskyTHON raised more than $1 million for CCMC.
“We really want to focus on cause connection because no matter how much we raise, it is all going to the kids and that is important,” Wickenheisser said. “We would love to continue to be the top fundraiser for the hospital and we would love to continue making millions of miracles happen.”
