On Valentine’s Day, Mars shifts from Aries to Taurus. Venus is in Capricorn until March, Mercury is in Pisces and the Sun shifts from Aquarius to Pisces on Feb. 18. In honor of everyone’s favorite Hallmark holiday this week, we’ll take a look at how the signs are faring in terms of romance this month.
Aries (March 21 – April 19): Everything is going great in the world of romance for you right now. New relationships are thriving and the passion is building, but watch out, because everything may come crashing down on Thursday, and you may spend the rest of the month trying to correct the mistakes you’re about to make.
Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Valentine’s Day is going to roll in with a lot of hectic energy for your sign. You’ll be ready to throw rocks at windows and climb up water towers and fulfill the hopeless romantic in you. Adventure may not be the safe and stable style of romance you’re used to, but with the right person, it may be a style you can embrace.
Gemini (May 21 – June 20): Flirting is your game. You rock at flirting, but after you’ve been playing games and messing around for a long time, you may find yourself realizing that these shallow relationships don’t hold anything real. You’re perfectly positioned right now to make a change and start looking into the hidden depths of the people closest to you.
Cancer (June 21 – July 22): Every year your ruling planet, the moon, moves a little bit further away from the earth. No matter how hard you try to find the perfect, stable relationship, you may feel like you’re floating further and further away from the people you care about. As the moon strays further from your sign and the planets revolve away from you this month, you may have to work a little harder to maintain the important connections in your life
Leo (July 23 – August 22): Loud, attention-seeking, confident—all of these Leo traits should make romance a walk in the park. But this month, something so good will come along, something you don’t want to mess up, that you’ll find butterflies trying to tame the lion in you. This hesitancy and unsurety may be new to you, and you may not like it. If the connection is real enough, eventually all the nerves will settle with time.
Virgo (August 23 – September 22): Lowering your expectations will make your love life a lot easier. Not your standards—don’t ever lower your standards. Rather, accept that you’ll have to go through a lot of no’s before you find a yes. Don’t settle for less than what you want, but settle in for the long haul.
Libra (September 23 – October 22): This month is going to be very charming. Not intensely passionate, not cold and lonely, but a nice, low-key charming. Your relationships will be nice, calm and committed. There won’t be any crazy blowouts or heartbreak. Enjoy this peaceful period. Sometimes easy love is all you need to be happy.
Scorpio (October 23 – November 21): Everybody always goes on and on about sex with you, Scorpio, and ignores the fact that you’re also one of the signs with the most intimate, emotional depth to your relationships. This Valentine’s Day, don’t worry about the passion and the romance, and put the jealousy aside. Whether you’re starting something new, or continuing something old, or just hanging with your friends, try to ignore any sexual tension and just reach a new level of connection with the people around you.
Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21): Everybody makes a big deal about love being fiery and passionate, being an equal give and take, being perfect and rom-com worthy. Sometimes the most important piece of a relationship is the quiet, unwavering support. Sagittarius is always looking for adventure and novelty and change, but sometimes you need to take a look at what you have this month, and appreciate the less glamorous, but vital, relationships you have.
Capricorn (December 22 – January 19): Old feelings will get in the way of something new this month. You can’t get rid of your past, but you can’t let nostalgia control you either. No two relationships are ever going to be the same, but that doesn’t mean that one is better than the other, they’re just different. Don’t let fears and memories stop you from exploring something different.
Aquarius (January 20 – February 18): With the sun in your sign, your individualistic tendencies are at their height. This Valentine’s Day, forget loving other people, and just celebrate some self-love. Venus will be rolling into your sign in March, so you can worry about love later. For now, be proud of yourself and buy yourself some chocolate.
Pisces (February 19 – March 20): When you have grand notions about what love should look like, or the way it feels to be in love, being alone may just seem like the absolute worst, especially this month as everybody flaunts their relationships. To avoid being irritated by the love in the air, seek out some other lonely people to spend time with. Cancers, for example, might appreciate your company this month.
