The UConn golf team returns to action for the first time in nearly a month this weekend in the FAU Spring Championship at Osprey Point Golf Course in Boca Raton, Florida.
The Huskies last competed in the Ft. Lauderdale Intercollegiate at the beginning of March, finishing in a tie for third place. Jimmy Hervol and Nick Harrington ended the tournament tied for eighth place with both of them shooting one under par after three rounds.
Head coach Dave Pezzino was impressed with the performance of his team in their practice run on Thursday, even with winds reaching 20-25 miles per hour during the practice. Pezzino said Drake Hull will compete in the tournament despite flu-like symptoms.
Last year the Huskies finished in second place out of 19 schools at Osprey Point, with Hervol leading the way by shooting -15.
Hervol, Harrington, Hull, Tim Umphrey and Zach Iannone will represent the Huskies while Jack Boulger will compete individually.
The FAU Spring Championship will begin Friday, March 29 and will be played through Sunday, March 31. Iannone will be the first UConn golfer to compete, with a 10 a.m. tee time.
