The UConn golf team tied for seventh out of 19 schools in the FAU Spring Championship at Osprey Point Golf Course in Boca Raton, Florida this past weekend.
Nick Harrington led the Huskies by shooting 6-under-216. Harrington rebounded from recording a 3-over-75 on the first round to shoot under par on each of the last two days. His best performance came in round two, when he shot a 7-under-65 and did not finish a single hole over par. Harrington finished tied for 10th place on the leaderboard.
Drake Hull finished second on the team with a 1-under-71 for the tournament. Hull shot one under par in his first round and then shot an even 72 in both the second and third rounds. He finished tied for 21st overall.
Jimmy Hervol struggled throughout the weekend, finishing tied for 42nd place with a 4-over-76. Hervol had 10 birdies and 10 bogeys over the course of the tournament but also recorded a double bogey in each of the first two rounds.
Tim Umphrey and Zach Iannone finished tied for 48th place at 5-over. Both had poor first rounds, with Umphrey shooting a 4-over-76 and Iannone shooting a 7-over-79, but both rebounded by shooting under par in the second round. In the third round, Umphrey inflated his final score with a triple bogey on the 12th hole and a pair of bogeys at the end while Iannone shot for par.
Jack Boulger, the only Husky to compete individually, finished tied for 34th with a 1-over-73. Boulger shot for par in each of the first two rounds, but a bogey on the 18th hole in the third round pushed his final score above par.
Up next for the Huskies is the Clemson Invitational at Keowee Falls in Salem, South Carolina on Tuesday, April 5th.
