Napheesa Collier, Women’s Basketball:
In her fourth and final matchup in the Final Four, Collier did what she does best: put up a double-double. The end of her UConn career came with the final line of 7-for-14 with 15 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks in a full 40 minutes.
Marybeth Olson, Softball:
The American Pitcher of the Week threw 15 innings this weekend and struck out 21 batters. She pitched in each game of the weekend; most notably, she pitched three innings of relief on Saturday and struck out eight of the 11 batters she faced. Despite throwing 118 pitches in the two days prior, on Sunday she threw a complete game and gave up just three runs to give UConn a shot at the win.
Carli Cutler, Softball:
Late game heroics and flashy defensive plays defined Cutler’s weekend. With a game-winning home run in the sixth inning of Saturday’s contest, Cutler completed the comeback for UConn softball over Memphis. She also drove herself in for UConn’s sole run in a 3-1 loss to Memphis Sunday with a seventh inning tater. She finished the weekend 3-for-8 with two home runs and four RBIs.
Pat Winkel, Baseball:
After a dicey first two games of the weekend, Winkel picked up his first multi-home run game with the Huskies with a blast in the second and fourth inning of Sunday’s game at Dunkin’ Donuts Park. His second home run of the afternoon gave UConn a 2-1 lead over Cincinnati, but the Bearcats would eventually take home the win 10-4.
Jack McLister, Men’s Tennis:
On his senior night, McLister supplied both wins in a 5-2 loss to Marist. He picked up a win with teammate John Michael Holtmann at the No. 2 doubles spot against Marist’s Lars Schouten and Max Darrington by the score of 6-2. He then won in his singles match against Kian Yazdi at No. 4, 6-2 and 7-5.
Julianna Bou, Women’s Tennis:
On senior night, it was a freshman who shined the brightest in a 7-0 victory over Bryant. Bou and partner Mireille Moreau took home a 6-0 win against Arianna Oropeza and Aleksi Gottlieb at No. 2 doubles. The native of Puerto Rico then grabbed a singles win against Oropeza 6-4 and 6-1.
