Transportation Services at the University of Connecticut has finalized the bus routes that will service the campus from May 13 to August 23.
The lines called Campus Loop 1 and Campus Loop 2 will run Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will not be a weekend service available.
Campus Loop 1 will service Charter Oak Apartments, travel down Discovery Drive, and stop at the Student Union, Arjona, Shippee, East campus, W Lot and Towers.
Campus Loop 2 will service Northwood Apartments, Hilltop dorms and apartments, the bookstore, Mansfield Town Hall, Shippee, East campus, the chemistry building and North/Northwest.
Both campus loops plan to service stops every 40 minutes, according to transportation services. These loops will not service Horsebarn Hill, I Lot and J Lot.
“These stops will be serviced using an on-demand service, offered by the Accessible Van service,” Transportation Services said on their website.
Mario Rivas, fourth-semester physiology and neurobiology major, is staying at UConn for the summer as an RA and is disappointed in the bus lines arrival times.
“You can request a bus, but when you need to get to class or a job in a timely manner, that is not helpful,” Rivas said.
Rivas also expressed concern for people who may struggle in the heat with health conditions.
“(Waiting in the heat) is dangerous and inconsiderate especially in regards to those who may suffer from disorders like asthma, which heat tends to effect,” Rivas said.
