As many people know, the University of Connecticut’s Involvement Fair will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 4. This bi-annual fair will have tables set up all over Fairfield Way, advertising a large variety of clubs, ensuring that each student who attends will leave interested in at least one club.
There are over 700 clubs at UConn that revolve around a variety of things; UConn offers club sports, music and art clubs, academic clubs, cultural clubs and so many more. Essentially, UConn guarantees that there is at least one club for every student to participate in.
In order to live a college life to the fullest, it is important that students join at least one club. Of course, students shouldn’t stretch themselves thin trying to accommodate each and every club they are remotely interested in into their schedule, but it is important for students to find at least one club to join.
Joining clubs not only allows students to find something that they are passionate about, but it also allows students to make friends outside of people in their dorms, Greek organizations and their classes. The friends one makes in clubs often have similar interests, such as a shared hobby, major or career track.
And of course, joining a club is a great thing to add to a resume, especially for interviews, because one can speak at length about something that they are truly passionate about, and how one was able to explore that passion more. Who knows; maybe that one club will be the difference between getting the dream job or not!
Especially if students are undecided about their major or their future plans, clubs can really help. There are many clubs that relate to career opportunities that can help students realize that something that they are passionate about can actually be what they end up doing for the rest of their lives. The opposite is true, as well; instead of taking numerous classes pertaining to a certain subject or activity, clubs allow students to explore options in a different, less stressful environment.
It is immensely important to get involved in clubs at UConn — clubs provide endless opportunities for students, and add to the exciting nature of the college experience!
