The University of Connecticut’s Undergraduate Student Government passed a resolution expanding the “Tampon Time” program at its first senate meeting of the academic year Wednesday evening.

Per the resolution, USG will add pad and tampon dispensaries to 14 locations across UConn’s Storrs campus, including the Chemistry Building, McHugh Hall, Homer Babbidge Library, the Student Union and the new Recreation Center. It passed 34-0-1, with Sen. Joshua Crow abstaining.

“This is a service that needs to happen, and we can’t necessarily wait for the university,” Sen. Jacqueline Seras said.

The USG Senate also appointed senators to open positions at Wednesday night’s meeting.

Sen. Alexandria Ose, the School of Fine Arts’ first senator in eight years, was appointed legislative coordinator. Sen. Noah Frank was appointed chair of the internal affairs committee, which looks at funding issues and bylaws.
