Two free bus shuttle services will now take sports fans from either the F-Lot or Storrs Center to men’s and women’s basketball games at Gampel Pavilion, according to a press release from the Mansfield Downtown Partnership.

The Gampel Express will continuously run 90 minutes before and after each game in 20-minute intervals between Nash-Zimmer Transportation Center in Downtown Storrs and the Alumni bus stop on Hillside Road. A second shuttle will run between F-Lot and the Werth Family Basketball Champions Center in the same intervals, the release said.

Parking is available for visitors in the Downtown Storrs parking garage, which is located next to the transportation center. The first two hours are free and each additional hour is a $1 charge. Fans can also park in F-Lot on the weekends at no charge, as long as the space is not marked as reserved, restricted or limited, according to the parking services website.

In past years, UConn Transportation offered a similar bus system during the basketball season to help transport fans to the games more easily. In the 2017-2018 season, the shuttle was referred to as the “Gameday Shuttle,” but was revamped in the 2018-2019 season to be called “Gampel Express.” Last year’s shuttle also offered service from S Lot, next to E. O. Smith High School, to the games.

During last season’s NCAA games, buses began running two hours prior to the event and continued running until two hours after the games concluded. Fans were also encouraged to use the 913 Express bus route to get to the men’s games at the XL Center in Hartford, according to the Mansfield-Storrs Patch.

CT Transit’s 913 Express also runs daily and takes passengers between downtown Hartford, Buckland Hills, Downtown Storrs (at the transportation center) and East Campus, according to CT Transit’s website.

“Having both CTtransit’s buses and the Gampel Express stop at the Nash-Zimmer Transportation Center makes both services even more convenient for visitors,” Mansfield Downtown Partnership Executive Director Cynthia van Zelm said in the release.
