Although the Daily Campus remains neutral as an entity in this election, our opinion section serves as way for individual writers to express their political beliefs. 2025 Inauguration: A closer look

Donald Trump has returned to the White House on Monday, Jan. 20 for a non-consecutive second term, becoming only the second president in U.S. history after Grover Cleveland to achieve such a political comeback. Prior to 1937, inaugurations were held on March 4. Since then, Jan. 20 has been the official date for the transfer of presidential power.

Four more years: a look at Donald Trump’s nominations to his administration

Ahead of his second presidential term, which begins on Jan. 20 of next year, President-elect Donald Trump has begun declaring his nominations for key Cabinet and White House staff. Positions include cabinet secretaries, directors of federal agencies, White House staff and ambassadors. A full list of his nominees, as of Nov. 18, has been reported by CBS News.

Zohran won: So, now what?

Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the New York City mayoral election seemed to ring out across the entire country, signaling the beginning of something new. It’s a new hope, perhaps, or a return to previous highs felt during the 2020 era.

It’s a phrase you hear in almost every major election. “Vote blue no matter who” is the default response, it seems, to any criticism of Democratic candidates and policies or suggestion that our votes may be better directed towards a third-party candidate. For the most part, it’s good advice.

In our public consciousness, there is a stereotypical impression of the “young voter.” Ranging from the ages of 18 to 29, both political parties court these voters, but they typically lean liberal and toward the Democratic Party, especially at colleges like UConn.

Toscano on Thursday, Nov. 7, to discuss how media is used in elections. Toscano is a founding partner of Backstory Strategies, a political media consulting group that has helped to create numerous political advertisements.

In the early morning on Wednesday, Nov. 6, the results of the 2024 presidential election were announced. Despite a close race, Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump defeated Democratic nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris to become the nation’s 47th president.
