Rapid Fire: Spring break

Anyone who has seen the film “22 Jump Street” likely has a certain archetype of spring break irrevocably burned into their mind. To an extent, it’s not all that far off. Every March, America’s most ambitious partygoers dominate the beaches with inebriated conduct and heaps of trash and continue the legacy of ragers passed. It’s enough to make the introvert in all of us squirm — or, it’s incredibly appealing. Where does The Daily Campus Opinion section stand? In this week’s Rapid Fire, writers gave their opinions on the question: Is Spring break for going all out, or taking a real break?

Spring break should be a break, one that our minds and bodies sorely need. I may not seem like it, but I’m a big proponent of mindfulness. I think this traditionally wasteful, raucous occasion should be used as an opportunity for all to wind down,  connect to the community around us, try to cultivate more healthy relationships with ourselves and maybe even recycle some discarded nips that would otherwise give a fish heartburn.

I used to be an advocate for using spring break as rest mode, but then I unlocked “Florida Dan” last spring break, and now find myself on the other side of the coin. So I say go all out all you still can, and hey, maybe you’ll unlock your Florida Dan side too.

You know, I think it’s an interesting question, but it doesn’t really matter because my professors don’t seem to want me to do either! On the real though, don’t feel bad if you don’t do a big blowout trip this spring break; all that is mad expensive, and you can really party anywhere as long as your friends are there.

This spring break, I will find myself in London for a business trip. Typically, I advocate for everyone to eat chips and guacamole in their bed on break. This time, I will be fully committing to the “grind never stops” lifestyle as I navigate the tube in my business casual attire and talk finance with my peers. I’m saying goodbye to my sleep schedule right now.
