Rapid Fire: Which state has the worst drivers?

This week, Opinion writers give their thoughts on this question: Which U.S. state has the worst drivers? Illustration by Sarah Chantres/The Daily Campus.

As we recuperate from spring break, Opinion continues to ruminate on our time spent outside the great state of Connecticut. And in a car-dominated culture such as ours, one of the best ways to differentiate the United States from freeway to shining freeway is its drivers.

This week, Opinion writers give their thoughts on this question: Which U.S. state has the worst drivers?

Nell Srinath, Opinion Editor: Massachusetts. A product of Puritanical colonialism, so-called MassHoles drive like they’re trying to shake the sin from their bodies.

Dan Stark, Associate Opinion Editor: The New Yorker in me immediately says New Jersey, but I’m going to pick go with Florida. The roads are filled with the worst and oldest drivers from each state, which turns any routine drive into what I imagine Grand Theft Auto VI will be like (which I think will take place in Florida).

Tomas Hinckley, Weekly Columnist: You, reading this, are the worst drivers. UConn students. I’ve been almost hit too many times on this campus.

Luke Feeney: Weekly Columnist: New York, specifically Long Island, they call it the Long Island Expressway for a reason; you’re gonna be expressing yourself the entire time you’re on that highway from hell.

Evelyn Pazan, Contributor: The worst drivers are in New Jersey, and I am one of them. I get on the highway, grip my wheel and pray that no one gets in the way of my Jersey Slide.
