Adrian Wojnarowski, also known as “Woj”, was the leader in sports reporting for basketball over the last ten years. As an uptick in social media became relevant, so did Woj as he would report all the breaking headlines mostly to Twitter. He also reported on-air for ESPN, where he would come in to discuss breaking news or reports on various shows. He dropped the biggest bombshell of his career, though, which would call for him to retire from ESPN to take a basketball GM job at St. Bonaventure College. This is a shocker to most, as not only was he the best in his career in the world, but he is also walking away from a contract that could pay him up to 20 million dollars.

The issue that Wojnarowski explained with his job is that it caused him to be on his phone 24/7 and this is not what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. He had a great run doing something that he loved and was passionate about, although things can only stay perfect for so long. His new job will be another test, yet it is one that he will embrace, as he will handle NIL for the Bonnies. His new job will also have him tasked with helping the head coach and others in the program to ensure things run smoothly.
Wojnarowski will now have his dream job; he could have gone to mostly anywhere in the nation if he wanted to leave his job. However, he chose his alma mater to continue his career at. This is just as shocking as a top athlete retiring at the peak of their game. Nobody has had the influence that he had on the sports world through his reporting and journalistic abilities. Stephen A Smith stated in a Twitter post that he was “Devastated! What a loss for us here at ESPN. The absolute best in the business, my man. I’m goanna miss you, Buddy!”. The game will miss a great in that aspect, although it gives way for others to step up in the reporting world and take center stage. He will not focus on money or fame and will stick to focusing on the pride and the glory of the game in his new role at St. Bonaventure.
