The UConn women’s tennis team will travel to Hanover, N.H., this weekend to compete at the Dartmouth Invitational from Sept. 27-29. Dartmouth will be hosting UConn along with Boston College and Gonzaga.
The Huskies displayed their dominance last weekend at their home invitational where they went 6-3 in doubles play and 13-6 in singles play overall. Their perseverance and strength were shown as they took on every challenge Wesleyan, Fordham and Army West Point threw at them.
The Dartmouth Invitational is the Fall Foliage Fest, and the first annual tournament was held last year. Last year’s fest consisted of matches between Dartmouth, Boston College, UMass and St. John’s, so the Huskies will be newcomers. The fest consists of singles and doubles matches played in the traditional tournament format.

Senior Olivia Wright will continue to be watched as one of the Huskies’ most dominant players. Wright was recently named to the All-Big East First Team for her performance during spring 2024. Her dominance was also shown last season as she was named in the top 20 singles players by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. In Wright’s singles matchup last weekend, she won two out of three and will look to continue this level of dominance. Last weekend, Wright also dominated in doubles, winning all her matches when paired with senior Maria Constantinou. The pair also dominated last season, ending with an 11-5 doubles record. Last season, they were also ranked in the top 10 doubles pair by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. This pair will continue to be looked at as frontrunners in this upcoming tournament.
On the Big Green side, sophomores Michela Moore and Peyton Capuano will be key players. Both players recently represented Dartmouth at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Championships. Capuano was named the team’s most valuable player last season and won the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rookie of the year award. Moore earned a singles ranking by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. These impressive Big Green players will be key competition for the Huskies.
The last time the team traveled to a Dartmouth tournament was for the opening weekend of the 2019 spring season. The Huskies fell to both Brown and Dartmouth during the weekend. They took on a 7-0 loss to Dartmouth and a 6-1 loss to Brown. However, the team has now evolved greatly and will get a fresh start against Dartmouth in a brand-new tournament for the Huskies.
