The UConn women’s volleyball team will be looking for a comeback performance this weekend after facing their first losses last week. UConn will be coming back home this weekend to take on Georgetown on Friday and Seton Hall on Saturday.

First up, the Huskies will take on the Georgetown Hoyas on Friday at 6 p.m. The Hoyas have faced difficulty in their non-conference games and currently stand with a 7-7 record. They will also be coming into this game hoping to gain some momentum as they currently face a five game losing streak. Georgetown also lost their first two Big East games against Villanova and St. John’s.
Georgetown’s roster will include freshman Dionna Mitchell, who leads the team with 181 kills and is second in service aces with 10. They will also bring senior Karis Park, who leads the team in service aces, 11. As for the defensive front, the Hoyas will bring junior Vaughan Anoa’i, who leads the team in blocks with 51. The teams have faced one another 14 times before. The Huskies own a 9-5 record winning five of the last seven games played in Storrs. Both teams will be looking to turn their Big East run around and end their losing streak.
On Saturday, the Huskies will take on the Seton Hall Pirates at 4 p.m. Seton Hall has had a difficult season so far, standing with a 6-7 record. Much like UConn and Georgetown, the Pirates have also lost their first two conference games. They lost to St. John’s on Friday, Sept. 26, followed by another loss to Villanova a day later on Saturday, Sept. 27.
The Pirates roster will include senior Reagan Merk, the team leader in kills with 125, and junior Asli Subasili, who leads the team in service aces. Subasili has also proved herself a great defensive player as she leads the team with 36 blocks. To assist her on the defensive front, Seton Hall will bring freshman Grace Turner, who trails right behind Subasili with 35 blocks. The Huskies have also faced Seton Hall 14 times before. UConn currently stands 8-6 against the Pirates, winning a total of six home games. Seton Hall will come into this game with hopes to turn their whole season around and score a much needed win for their team.
Both games will take place at the UConn Volleyball Center in Storrs, Connecticut and will be streamed through Flo Sports. The Huskies will be looking to end their losing streak and come back strong to regain their early season momentum.
