Happy Easter for those celebrating, Huskies! Many students are heading home this weekend to have a meal and celebrate the resurrection with their families, but other students will be celebrating an unofficial holiday that happens to fall on Easter this year: 4/20. For those looking for a way to celebrate this cannabis-focused day, look no further than “Husky Haze Fest” at The Dog P0und, Storrs’ top basement venue. This three-day music festival is not only the biggest event the venue has put on yet, but it also features a lineup that can be best described as the Avengers of the Connecticut music scene. Here’s a look at the 14 bands that will be taking the stage over three days this weekend in Storrs.
For each show, doors open at 6:30 p.m., music starts at 7:30 p.m. and admission is $10. No parking is available on-site. For the address, message @thedogp0und on Instagram.
Friday, 4/18

“Husky Haze Fest” kicks off on Friday, April 18, with an alternative rock extravaganza featuring five bands. The highlight of the evening is Ruby Leftstep, who is returning to Storrs for the first time since February. Also on the bill is Neanderthal Petting Zoo and Kuyan (formerly known as The Rotting Twentys), two Storrs-based bands who have made frequent appearances at The Dog P0und. Rounding out the night is garage rock band Pond View and Mildly Allergic, who are making the trek from Purchase, N.Y.
Saturday, 4/19
After a hot start on Friday, the bands on Saturday, April 19 look equally promising, with a five-band lineup that has the most variety of the weekend. Subject Bloom will be kicking off the night with some classic, alternative rock flare. Following that is Arlo Matthews, a folk-rock singer-songwriter who has footholds in both the Connecticut and Boston music scenes.
The back-to-back combo of Bluepenny and Believe It, It’s Easy will be bringing their indie rock and emo sounds to the stage, two genres that are always well received at The Dog P0und. Finishing up the night is Radiodonta, a five-piece alternative rock band that has quickly risen in the Connecticut music scene with their dissonant guitar riffs, soaring vocals and powerhouse rhythm section.
Sunday, 4/20
For the big day of Sunday, April 20, the lineup features a primarily jam-based sound, with four bands known for their grooves and improvisation. Highlighting the lineup is Jammwich, a Boston-based jam band whose psychedelic rock sound will create a perfect backdrop for 4/20 festivities. Also on the bill is Storrs-based jazz fusion jam band AshBaby and Solgyres, the powerhouse reggae fusion group making their second appearance at The Dog P0und this month. Rounding out the lineup is Melovictoria, an indie rock band who has been a longtime presence in Storrs.
