After back-to-back wins on Tuesday and Wednesday against the UMass and Army, the UConn baseball team (23-17, 8-4) will travel to Queens to take on St. John’s Red storm this weekend.

In the Huskies’ 12-5 win over Army on Wednesday night, there were multiple tremendous outings, getting runs on the board and setting their teammates up on the bases with multiple hits on the night.

Junior Ryan Daniels was the focal point of the squad’s offense, hitting a career-high six runs and two home runs to move the Hook C program to their longest winning streak since 2022.

In addition to Daniels, sophomore Rob Rispoli, graduate student Caleb Shpur and graduate student Sam Biller each racked up some offense for the squad. Biller and Rispoli each had multiple hits on the night and Shpur tallied up two runs.

Next up, the Huskies will return to Big East play to take on the Red Storm. The last time these two conference foes faced one another was last year on April 14, when the Huskies took the win 11-3. In this matchup, Connecticut racked up three runs in the ninth inning to propel themselves to win the game.

Since then, the history between these two squads has been checkered with the Huskies taking the all-time record 68-61.

On the Red Storm’s squad, the Huskies will need to keep an eye on infielder Jared Beebe who has attained a .364 batting average in his senior campaign. In the Red Storm’s recent 6-5 walk off win against Rutgers on Tuesday evening.

In this win, Beebe had a tremendous game at the plate going 3-5. Beebe tallied up a run and RBI and a double for Johnnie’s. Beebe currently leads his program with 28 runs, 30 RBIs and 17 doubles.

In addition to Beebe, his teammate Jayder Raifstanger leads the Red Storm with a batting average of .376 and 56 hits. Raifstanger and Beebe are both fifth in the Big East in hits and 100th and 103rd in the nation, per the teams’ website.

This three-game series will kick-off on Friday with the first game scheduled for a first pitch of 3 p.m., and both Saturday and Sunday’s games will have a first pitch of 1 p.m. Husky fans can tune into these Big East matchups on MIXLR.
