The Standard at Four Corners: ‘The safety of our residents is our top priority’

Landmark Properties, the company that owns The Standard at Four Corners apartments in Storrs, Conn., responded to claims that their residents are living in unsafe conditions.

“The safety of our residents is our top priority, and residents are not living in unsafe conditions,” their statement said. “We do not permit occupancy in any environment that does not meet our safety standards.”

The company addressed concerns that stemmed from a November 2025 flood in the apartment’s Building 1000, which prompted the building to close for about three weeks, according to residents. There were notices posted outside of the building announcing that “its occupancy has been prohibited by the building official” for the time that the flooding was being addressed by maintenance.

“The flooding incident that occurred in November 2025 was addressed immediately,” Landmark Properties said in an email statement. “Affected residents were promptly relocated from their units, provided support including alternative accommodations and gift cards, and the issue was fully resolved. There have been no recurring flooding concerns since that time.”

The company also responded to maintenance concerns that some residents raised, including pipe leaks, peeling paint and issues with door handles and vents. They said all of the issues raised by residents in a previous Daily Campus article were quickly resolved.

“Our team maintains detailed records of every work order submitted at The Standard, and our records reflect that the specific issues reported by residents…were addressed and resolved shortly after being reported,” the statement said.
