I began writing for The Daily Campus after transferring schools and wanting to get involved on campus. I hadn’t done anything journalism related but had a newfound interest in writing more. I quickly found a love for writing analyses of my favorite shows and characters. In doing so over three years I’ve had numerous people reach out to me about my more niche articles, specifically those discussing my favorite series “House M.D.”. Thanks to The Daily Campus I’ve connected with great friends I otherwise wouldn’t have met and found people with similar interests and ways of thinking.

I’ve loved being able to explore media and characters with breadth and depth, and I can’t say there are many places one is able to do that. Throughout my four years of college, I’ve explored various clubs, activities and other on-campus forms of involvement, but The Daily Campus is the one I’ve stuck with my entire time at UConn. Setting aside time each week to write about something that interests me has been a rewarding way to have something to look forward to, think about and share with others.

For people like me who may be more introverted or find clubs and social events daunting, writing for the paper has been a safe and comforting way to put myself out there, truly enjoy myself, and find like-minded people. It also introduced my roommate and I to the joy of crosswords, so you never know what you might stumble upon when trying something new.
I have little else to say related to graduation and The Daily Campus, but here are some ideas that I would have covered if I had more semesters of writing for The Daily Campus:
- “Edward Scissorhands” is the best movie ever. If you haven’t seen it, watch it, and if you have seen it, watch it again.
- Greg House and Charlie Kelly are two characters cut from the same cloth. They share quite a lot and could’ve turned out relatively similar if their childhoods weren’t as different as they were (Charlie’s genius is discussed in my first article at The Daily Campus and reading it would make this claim seem more reasonable)
- House is the love child of Will and Hannibal, in terms of his personality (maybe his appearance too, I don’t know)
- Why people hate Taub and love Wilson (hint: one is conventionally attractive)
- Cuddy and House were never meant to last and are great representation of a couple that should break up (Hilson forever)
- An article dedicated to House fangirling over various random things (his soap opera, monster trucks, the author of the Jack Canon novels)
- House is a good person (I honestly don’t think this needs any explanation)
- I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned this, but “House M.D.” is the best show and if you are interested in starting it, might I suggest Season 2 episode 5, Season 2 episode 19, Season 3 episode 13, Season 3 episode 22, Season 4 episode 14 (honestly the entirety of Season 4 is stellar) and Season 5 episode 18. I could go on and on, but I figure past season five is deep into spoiler territory (if you want more specific recommendations based on any personal preference message me). And if you’re a sane person with any love and whimsy in your heart, you’ll watch the whole series through and love every second of it.
