After blanking Marquette on the road last weekend, UConn men’s soccer (6-6-2) is set to return to Morrone Stadium.
The team will gear up to take on the Providence Friars Saturday evening for Junior Husky Club Day.
The Huskies are looking to build off the momentum from last week’s game against the Golden Eagles. In that matchup, junior Alfonso Arredondo scored his first goal of the season and the game-winning goal for the Huskies, abolishing their two-game losing streak.
“Obviously, the results haven’t gone our way some games, but tonight [we] just showed the character of this group,” Head Coach Chris Gbandi said in an interview from the program’s X page.
Now, as the Huskies shift their focus to the Friars, they will look to start a winning streak as the regular season is starting to wind down.
The last time these two conference foes faced off against one another on Oct. 25, 2025, where it ended in a 0-0 draw. The Friars are currently sitting at a record of 5-4-3 and 0-2-2 in the Big East.

Providence is coming off back-to-back draws versus Villanova and Akron. On the Friars’ squad, the Huskies should look out for midfielder Brian Garrepy, who has eight points on the season so far for his red shirt junior year campaign.
UConn moved down to No. 3 in the Big East, East Division standings with six points, sitting exactly at the .500 win percentage. Providence sits at the No. 5 spot, below St. John’s with a .542 win percentage.
The Huskies will look to goalkeeper Kyle Durham to stand tall for the Huskies in between the pipes. The Brooklyn native recorded his second clean sheet of his senior year campaign against the Golden Eagles last Friday. Alongside Butler’s Finn Moran (Offensive/Freshman of the Week) and Georgetown’s Eric Howard (Defensive Player of the Week), Durham was named the Big East Goalkeeper of the Week.
Durham was integral for the Huskies against the Golden Eagles, saving six shots from Marquette and allowing the Huskies to shut them out.
This matchup against the Friars marks the Huskies’ second-to-last match at home in the regular season, before they take on Georgetown on Nov. 6 for the program’s annual senior night.
Fans will not want to miss this conference matchup at home. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m., and Husky fans can tune in to the matchup on ESPN+.
