It will be the UConn Huskies versus the Xavier Musketeers under the lights on Halloween in Cincinnati this Saturday.
After losing to St. John’s 2-3 on the road in New York this past Tuesday, the UConn men’s soccer program (7-7-2) will hit the road again this weekend. This time around, it will travel to Ohio to take on the No. 17 ranked Xavier Musketeers (9-1-4) for its final road trip of the regular season.
Tuesday’s loss against the Johnnies ended the Huskies’ two-game winning streak. At first, UConn was up on the board with a goal from Max Gummesson in the first half. Then, Alfonso Arredondo added to the score, making it a two-goal cushion for the Huskies.
Junior forward Arrendondo has been integral for his squad, putting a goal up on the scoreboard in the last three matches the Huskies have played.
However, as the minutes left in the match started to wind down, the Red Storm responded with three unanswered goals, giving the Johnnies the 2-3 win.
Now, as the Huskies shift their focus to the Musketeers, they will look to end their regular season on a high note.

The last time these two Big East foes faced off was on Oct. 28, 2023, where Xavier won 4-0. Over their three contests against one another, Xavier has come out on top in each of them.
The Musketeers are also coming off a loss 1-2 loss against No. 9 Akron on Oct. 24. With Xavier coming into this matchup looking to redeem itself, Connecticut should look out for midfielder Gerard Lorente on the pitch.
Across his freshman year campaign, Lorente has racked up 12 total points in 14 games played. Following closely with nine points on the season, midfielder Osi Onwudiwe has also been a catalyst for Xavier’s offense this season.
As the Big East tournament is rapidly approaching, a win against the Musketeers will be crucial for the Huskies before their regular season finale against No. 2 Georgetown on Nov. 6.
Below No. 2 Georgetown in the Big East East Division Men’s Soccer standings, the Huskies sit in second place with a 3-3 conference record adding up to nine points. Overall, Connecticut has a win percentage of .500 for the entirety of its 2026-27 campaign so far.
To see these two conference opponents in action, kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from Cincinnati, Ohio. Husky fans can tune in to the matchup on ESPN+.
