The UConn swim and dive team will look to continue its winning streak as it gears up to take on Boston College this Friday.
These two teams haven’t met since the 2019-2020 season, but UConn is 4-0 in their matchups. After the Huskies’ dominant win over Villanova two weeks ago, they have proven they are going to be a tough matchup for anyone.
The Huskies will rely heavily on their top performers from last weekend’s meet against URI: freshman Kate Van Ryn, senior Kate Cooper and freshman Cara McDonald. Even though Van Ryn is only in her first year here, she has already shown what an outstanding swimmer she is in just the first two meets. She placed top three in three of her four events against Villanova and placed in the top two in all her events against URI, earning two personal best times at that meet. Van Ryn will be someone the Eagles will want to keep an eye on this coming week if they want to have any shot at winning.

The Huskies will also lean on Cooper for the diving events. Cooper was dominant in the first two meets of the season, taking first in both events against Villanova and taking first in the 3-meter dive against URI. If Cooper can sweep the diving events again, it will give the Huskies a huge edge against the Eagles since they do not have any standout divers like Cooper.
This meet is also the Eagles’ first dual meet of the season. They previously competed on Halloween in a tri-meet against Georgia Tech and East Carolina University, where they placed third. Freshman Caroline Kilty was their top performer, finishing with a season’s best of 1:51.17 in the 200-yard free and securing her team one of their few podium placements. Eagles sophomore Savannah Branon is also someone who could give the Huskies a run for their money. In the tri-meet, she placed top three in all her races. Branon helped her relay team get first place in the 400-yard free relay, had the quickest time as the anchor of the 200-yard medley relay to help her team get third place and got third place in the 100-yard free.
The Eagles will have to put up a strong fight if they want to try to beat the Huskies, who currently have momentum as they look for their next win.
The matchup will take place on Friday, Nov. 6th,, at 4 p.m. at the Margot Connell Recreation Center in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
