Women’s Basketball: UConn gets commitment from 2027 top 10 prospect Sydney Savoury

Sydney Savoury, a top 10 prospect in the 2027 SC Next 100, committed to UConn, she announced Friday.

Savoury, a 5-foot-11 guard from Belleville, MI, was in attendance for No. 2 UConn’s game against No. 5 Michigan on Thursday night and chose the Huskies over USC, North Carolina, Texas, Notre Dame and UCLA. Savoury is UConn’s first commit from the class of 2027 and extends UConn’s streak to 13 consecutive recruiting classes with at least one five-star prospect, according to ESPN.

A true scorer, Savoury won Michigan’s Gatorade State Player of the Year award as a sophomore in 2024-25 with averages of 27 points and seven rebounds. With senior guard Ashlynn Shade likely leaving the program next off season, Savoury could push for immediate rotation minutes alongside Jovana Popovic, Kayleigh Heckel, Kelis Fisher and Allie Ziebell.

UConn has shown interest in top 2027 prospect Kaleena Smith and eighth-ranked prospect Haylen Ayers among others. Connecticut’s 2026 class featured breakout guard Popovic, French shooter Marine Dursus and blue-chip center Olivia Vukosa.
