Women’s Basketball: Azzi Fudd to be inducted into the Huskies of Honor on Sunday

Azzi Fudd’s journey as a UConn Husky was a story of perseverance.

After various injuries, it limited Fudd’s time on the hardwood at Connecticut. However, she persevered through them, alongside her teammates. In her final two years as a Husky, she accomplished numerous accolades. She won Most Outstanding Player with the Huskies’ National Championship in 2025. This past season, she was also named a USBWA First Team All-American and made the WBCA AP First Team.

“We’ve been through so much together […] So, to see where we are now and how much we’ve grown, and whatever that looks like for each individual person,” Fudd said after her UConn senior night game in February. “I just think it’s so special to see where everyone is now in their individual journey.”

On Sunday, Fudd will join her former teammates Paige Bueckers and Aaliyah Edwards, as well as many other UConn alumnae in the prestigious Huskies of Honor in the rafters of Gampel Pavilion. In her five-season tenure with the Huskies, the Virginia native racked up a total of 1,687 points and 270 rebounds. The guard ranks fifth in program history for three pointers made with 292.

Not only was Fudd an inspiration to fans on the court, but she was also off the court as well. Through her NIL deals, including with hair color company Madison Reed, she made a name for herself. Most recently, she took part in a photoshoot for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue that will be published in 2027.

After her career concluded as a UConn Husky, Fudd was drafted No. 1 overall to the Dallas Wings. In her first-year campaign with the Wings, she averaged 13.1 points and 1.7 rebounds per game.

“Any of those kids, when they come back on campus, they miss part of it. They miss the innocence about it, the camaraderie, it’s all comforting,” Head Coach Geno Auriemma said on Fudd returning to campus. “So, I think they miss it when they come back and yet, at the same time, they’re flourishing.”

Fudd’s No. 35 will be unveiled from the Huskies of Honor Sunday afternoon, before the Huskies take on No. 10 Iowa. The ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. and fans can stream the ceremony on the UConn women’s basketball Facebook and X pages.

Tip-off against No. 10 Iowa is scheduled for 2 p.m. from M&T Bank Center at Gampel Pavilion. Husky fans can tune in to the matchup on FS1.
