D-Lot is expected to be fully open today, said Dwight Atherton, parking manager with UConn Parking Services.

Students will be asked to return to their assigned parking locations when construction is complete Atherton said.

Resident student permit parkers were able to park in Y and I lots, said Atherton. Students who leave their vehicle in Y and I lots will receive a warning by the enforcement staff.

“Those that remain parked on those lots next week will be ticketed,” Atherton said.

The work on D-Lot was to repair the pavement in the southwest quadrant. The work is now finished, Atherton said.

“The construction project, while needed, significantly inconvenienced many of our permit parkers,” said Atherton.

“The resident permit parking capacity is sufficient for the number of permits sold when all of its capacity is available to parkers,” Atherton said.

Some students were happy to hear that D-Lot will be fully open on Wednesday, because parking around campus has been difficult.

“The parking behind McMahon, if you don’t get there in time you have to go somewhere else,” said Ian Herrera a 7th semester finance major said.

Parking and commuter travel should return to normal when work on D-Lot is completed, Atherton said.

“It should be easier for everyone who uses the effected lots to find parking more easily once the lot improvements are complete,” Atherton said.
