After a great start to her season with the women’s hockey team, sophomore forward Theresa Knutson sat down to talk with me about her life on and off the ice.
Chris Hanna: What is your major? Why did you choose it?
Theresa Knutson: Sports Management, because my whole life I’ve always been on one side of sports and I’m passionate about them, and I want to see how things work on the other side of sports.
What is your favorite pre-game meal?
French toast with peanut butter on it.
If you could play another sport, what would you play? Why?
Softball because I played it in high school and had a lot of great memories through the sport.
Who is your favorite artist?
Favorite movie of all-time?
Who is your favorite athlete?
Walter Payton was just an all-around athlete and a great guy. He dominated on the field and was still able to be level headed off the field. A player like that is a great role model because he worked for everything he got and was able to be humble through it.
Your favorite class you’ve taken at UConn? Why?
FYE because the baseball players in that class were hilarious.
Any pregame rituals? Explain.
I drink a cup of water and a half of cup of Gatorade and I always listen to Dreams and Nightmares before going out onto the ice.
What’s your favorite moment in your sports career?
Sweeping Maine at Maine two weekends in a row to make it to Hockey East Championships.
If you could travel anywhere, where would it be? Why?
I want to go to Ireland because I heard the landscaping is beautiful, and they have nice accents.
Twitter or Instagram? Why?
Instagram, because who doesn’t love a nice selfie?
Who would you say is your team’s biggest rival?
Favorite thing to do while you aren’t playing your sport?
Favorite TV show?
One Tree Hill.
Dream job? Why?
My dream Job would be an NHL scout.

NHL Player you model your game around?
Corey Perry because he is a hard working player and always is skating hard towards the net.
