The UConn volleyball team (11-15, 4-10 AAC) split a pair of matches this weekend against
Wichita State and Memphis.
On Friday the Huskies played Wichita State (22-3, 14-0 AAC) in Kansas and lost in straight sets.
UConn’s Isabelle Peterson had six kills while junior Iman McGary had five of her own in the
match. McGary and freshman Ally Barrett both recorded a career best two service aces.
Wichita State really showed out defensively as they had six blocks and 47 digs. They also had a
conference high .494 hitting percentage in the match.
On Sunday the Huskies played Memphis (9-17. 1-12 AAC) in Tennessee. UConn won the match
The Huskies took the first set 25-22. UConn scored the last two points consecutively to take the win after Memphis had pushed hard to make the score 23-22.
In the second set Memphis tied the score up at 1-1 with a 25-15 win.
The third set was more of the same as Memphis won with an 11-point margin of 25-14.
In the fourth set UConn took an early 9-5 lead which then ballooned to 15-7. The Huskies forced a fifth set after winning the fourth set 25-13.
The Huskies were able to take the fifth set 15-10 and win the match.
The Huskies play next on Thursday when they take on Tulsa in Oklahoma at 8 p.m.
