The University of Connecticut is holding open forums regarding student fee rates for the 2018-2019 fiscal year, according to an email sent out Friday by Scott Jordan, UConn’s Chief Financial Officer. The forums will be held at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the Dodd Center Konover Auditorium on Tuesday, Feb. 6.
The forums will allow for students and faculty to ask questions regarding the proposed fees, according to the email. UConn reviews its fees, which cover non-academic services, such as Counseling and Mental Health Services, Transportation, Student Activities and others, on a yearly basis, according to UConn Today. The fee committee, which was created in late 2016, is comprised of students, university faculty and staff, and determines which fees can be consolidated, simplified or changed.

UConn Undergraduate Trustee Christine Savino said that the town halls are a “fantastic opportunity” to look into how the university organizes its finances.
“I strongly encourage students, faculty, and staff alike to attend the town hall regarding student activity fees,” Savino said. “It… allows students to better understand where their fees are being allocated and how they are being used.”
