The Huskies are in Fayetteville, Arkansas, this weekend for a two-game road trip where they will face off against Ole Miss and Arkansas.
The first of the two-game set will take place Friday, September 6th against Ole Miss. The Landsharks are 5-1 on the season and fall just outside the top 25. Their only loss came at the hands of the University of Minnesota by a score of 2-1 in double overtime.
Ole Miss has one of the most explosive offenses in all of D1 women’s soccer. They currently lead all of division one in goals with 21, standing alone at the top of the list. They also come in at sixth in points per game and tied for 16th in assists.
They also have some standout players on their roster. Senior forward CeCe Kizer is tied for first in the NCAA in goals with seven and points with 15, and Freshman Haleigh Stackpole is tied for second in the NCAA in game winning goals, with three
Then on Sunday, Sept. 9th the Huskies face off against Arkansas, who are currently 3-1-1 on the season. Like with Ole Miss, Arkansas’ only loss came in a double overtime game, falling to McNeese State 3-2.
The Huskies are headed to Arkansas looking to snap a three-game losing skid where they have been outscored 8-0.
“I want to go out there and compete,” said Coach Margaret Rodriguez about her expectations for this upcoming weekend. She said that when they hit the field, they are going to be focused on “taking care of one job. We’re going to go out there to win, and worry about the results after that. But if we go out there with the right mentality, and being disciplined and finding some consistency in our play we can do it.”
