A year after the traumatizing masterpiece “Avengers: Infinity War” was released, all of the cliffhangers have been answered in one final culmination of the original Avengers superheroes from the 2012 “Avengers” film. As this film is highly anticipated and purposely marketed so that the trailers would not give anything away, this review will feature no spoilers of “Avengers: Endgame,” but it will feature spoilers from “Avengers: Infinity War.”
In “Infinity War,” all of the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and other associated characters team up to defeat the all-powerful villain Thanos. Hoping to wipe out half of all species throughout the universe with just a snap of his fingers, Thanos is on a quest to retrieve all six of the infinity stones and will do whatever it takes to get them. The Avengers, getting wind of Thanos’ plan and discovering he has already retrieved one, hopes to assemble the team to fight him should he come to Earth. Their plans are quickly ruined when they are split up onto different planets and are defeated on each attempt to protect the stones.
The highly-distressing end of “Avengers: Infinity War” closes with many of the heroes being “dusted.” Those that are left look utterly defeated and Thanos retires to a farm on some planet far away and the end credit scene featured a hint to an introduction of the newest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Captain Marvel. Fans were absolutely heartbroken by the unexpected death of so many of their favorite Marvel superheroes.
“Avengers: Endgame” shows the aftermath of the events that played out in “Infinity War” as those who are left from the snap try to find a way to stop Thanos one more time. Unfortunately, that is all I can say without spoiling anything, but I can say you will need tissues for this three hour film.
The film features all of the original Avengers: Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, as well as a few others.
To say this movie absolutely soared past any expectations I had for it is an understatement. It was emotional from start to finish, but not without its hilarious quips. I was completely blown away and found the film to be absolutely perfect in every way. “Endgame” was by far one of my favorite movies of all time.
Marvel has truly outdone itself this time. When “Infinity War” came out I couldn’t even fathom a movie being as well-made as that, but “Endgame” did what I thought would be impossible and undoubtedly nailed it. If there was a score higher than a five out of five this movie would have it.
