Mansfield Democrats nominate candidates for upcoming election

In a recent press release, Mansfield Democrats endorsed a diverse, new crowd of candidates for the November election in a recent press release

“Of the 18 candidates nominated, ten candidates will be elected to the office they are seeking for the first time if elected in November,” the press release said.  “Ten candidates are women (and) nine candidates are running for the first time of any office.” 

For town council, the nominated candidates are: Terry Berthelot (for re-election), Sam Bruder (new candidate), Peter Kochenburger (for re-election), Deputy Mayor Toni Moran (for re-election), Ron Schurin (sitting member appointed to fill vacancy) and Ben Shaiken (for re-election). Mayor Paul Shapiro is not running for re-election.

Moran, nominated for her seventh term, was proud of the past work of Democrats in Mansfield.

“Democrats have led Mansfield through years of good government that takes care of our citizens and gets results,” Toni Moran, Deputy Mayor and vice-chair of the Mansfield Democratic Town Committee said. “We’ve got a strong record of fiscal responsibility, great schools and a vibrant downtown and I look forward to joining my fellow candidates to get out and talk to voters.” 

For Board of Education, the nominated candidates are Edith Allison (sitting member appointed to fill vacancy) and Susannah Everett (for re-election). 

For Region 19 Board of Education, the nominated candidates are Debra Hultgren (sitting member appointed to fill vacancy) and Nancy Silander (for re-election). 

For the Planning & Zoning Commission, the nominated candidates are Sarah Accorsi (sitting member appointed to fill vacancy), Louanne Cooley (new candidate, currently an alternate on the commission) and Lisa Pane (new candidate). 

John DeVivo (new candidate) is the nominated Planning & Zoning Commission alternate. 

For the Zoning Board of Appeals, the nominated candidates are Rick Brosseau (for re-election) and Don Vigneau (for re-election). 

For the Board of Assessment Appeals, the nominated candidates are Barbara Vaughan (new candidate) and Brian Anderson (new candidate).
