I commend you on your front page coverage of the racist incident involving the shouting of the N-word by Uconn students. It was encouraging and gratifying to see the photo of student protesters.
Your article was a timely reminder to students that racist language — especially words that evoke the history of discrimination and oppression — can be as hurtful as a physical blow.
It was ironic that you reported this ugly incident the same day that the president used the word “lynching.” Your coverage of these kinds of incidents is crucial at an institution of learning.
