When it comes to UConn and Boston College baseball, they are no strangers to the intense competition that occurs and the high-scoring games that go down to the wire when playing one another.
On Wednesday evening, both squads went head-to-head, and the No. 24-ranked Eagles took a win 8-5 in Brighton.
The Huskies led until Boston College scored two runs in the seventh inning, then three more in the seventh to solidify their 28th win of the season.

Julio Solier dominated for the Eagles, racking up two runs batted in on an RBI. Nick Wang, who shone the last time Boston College played UConn, scored four RBIs and a run in five at-bats.
For UConn, Maddix Dalena brought in two runs for his team in four at-bats.
In the first inning, the Huskies struck first with an RBI from Jackson Marshall that brought junior Tyler Minick from first base to home plate.
Then, the Eagles answered back after Wang grounded out, bringing Solier home.
The score was knotted at one until Ty Mainolfi scored off a hit from Jack Toomey to push the score to 2-1 heading into the second inning.
Peyton Jemison tied things up in the top of the second, though, after doubling down the right field line.
Things stayed quiet with the score tied 2-2 until the top of the fourth inning, where Cam Righi doubled down the right field line to bring in an RBI.
The Eagles took the lead 5-3, where Wang, Solier and Maniolfi putting three runs on the board.
In efforts to take their lead back against Boston College, a groundout from Jemison and Polemeni tied the score 5-5 in the top of the seventh inning.
In the bottom of the seventh, Wang notched his 13th home run of the season, racking up two runs on the board.
Then, Toomey reached home again for Boston College to set their win in stone.
Next up, the Huskies will return to Elliot Ballpark to take on St. John’s for a three-game weekend series. The first game of the series will take place on Friday at 6:05 p.m., the second game’s first pitch will be at 2:05 p.m. And finally, on Sunday, they will start at 1:05 p.m.
