The UConn baseball team (22-20, 7-5) will hit the road to the nation’s capital this weekend to take on the Georgetown Hoyas (22-19, 4-5) for a three-game series.

The Huskies are coming off a 9-5 win over the Rhode Island Rams this past Tuesday, where they played at Dunkin’ Park in Hartford, Conn. That night, first baseman Jackson Marshall racked up a career high of four hits, bringing in three of the runs scored.
“I mean, he’s been our best hitter and our most consistent hitter all year. I mean, really, he’s been excellent,” head coach Jim Penders said of the New Hampshire native after Tuesday’s game. “He’s become a really good Husky for us. We’re really glad that he’s here.”
Marshall is known throughout the team for the fire he brings to the field, but also in how he keeps things loose outside of competition.
“It’s been awesome. I mean, I think I’ve made a good impact with [the] team so far.” Marshall said post-game at Dunkin’ Park. “I mean, anything I can do to help the team win.”
In addition, sophomore Anthony Belisario drove in three RBI’s — his third straight multi-hit game — and stole a new career high of three bases.
As the Huskies shift their focus to the Hoyas, the Hook C will rely on Marshall and Belisario and their heavy hitters in this set of games.
The Hoyas are coming off a 9-7 loss versus George Washington University on Wednesday evening. The last time these two conference foes faced one another was on April 13 of last year, when the Huskies took the win 8-3 and clinched the three-game series.

On Georgetown’s squad, the Huskies should look out for Connor Peek and Jeremy Sheffield, who each boast a batting average of .369 and .363 a piece.
In terms of the Hoyas’ pitching squad, the Huskies should look out for Spencer Seid and Kai Leckszas, who each currently have an ERA of 2.81 and 3.99, respectively.
As the season winds down and the Huskies set their sights on conference play, wins against their fellow conference foes are integral for the squad.
UConn will face off against the Hoyas throughout this weekend, with the first pitch for Friday’s game scheduled for 6 p.m. The pair will follow it up with Saturday’s 3 p.m. game and the last game on Sunday will commence at 1 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
