Former Storrs student in court for alleged sexual assault

A 24-year-old former University of Connecticut student is waiting on the court’s decision for four criminal charges after he was accused of sexual assault at Storrs last year, according to court records.

Momin Nadeem was accused of assaulting a woman who was a UConn student twice during the Fall 2025 semester, once in October and again in November, according to an arrest warrant obtained by WINY Radio.

Court records show Nadeem being referred to a family relation officer in Rockville Superior Court on Tuesday with his charges still pending. His case will be heard again in the same courtroom at 10 a.m. on Nov. 13, 2026.

Nadeem is facing three felony charges across two different crimes, according to court records. Felonies are punishable with a five-year maximum prison sentence and fines of up to $5,000.

He was originally arrested by the UConn Police Department on April 3 and charged with second-degree strangulation, electronic stalking and third-degree assault, according to court records.

Third-degree assault is the only misdemeanor Nadeem is being charged with which comes with a maximum sentence of 364 days and fine of up to $2,000.

The affidavit obtained by WINY said the charge stems from an incident in November when a woman accused Nadeem of pushing her into a radiator and choking her in addition to the electronic stalking.

Police at UConn arrested Nadeem again on Sept. 8 and charged him with a separate felony of second-degree sexual assault against the same injured party in the first case.

The affidavit said the woman reported Nadeem to campus police on Aug. 15 for encouraging her to drink to the point that she was physically helpless before assaulting her on Oct. 29, 2025, according to WINY Radio.

A witness who was a friend of the woman accusing Nadeem told investigators in the affidavit that she had helped carry her friend into her residence hall. Nadeem himself admitted in the affidavit that he had to help carry the woman into her room because of how intoxicated she was, according to WINY Radio.

In the affidavit Nadeem is said to have initially denied the allegations, according to WINY Radio. In the affidavit he then told investigators that it “probably” occurred before continuing to deny the accusations.

Nadeem was released from his $305,000 bond in court Tuesday after being referred to the family relations officer, according to court records.
