General elections are open today for Mansfield residents to vote for their governors, state representatives, congressional representatives and other public officials. The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Mansfield Town Hall at 4 S. Eagleville Road will be the town’s voting location with options for voters who haven’t registered yet.
Same day registration, a 2012 policy allowing prospective voters to register at the polls on the day they vote, is available for Connecticut residents looking to vote in the general election. To register to vote in Connecticut a person must be a United States citizen, a resident of the Connecticut town where they are registering and at least 18 years old.
According to the Mansfield Registrar of Voters, eligible voters should bring identification in the form of a state-issued ID and proof of residency in Mansfield.
UConn students who are on-campus residents can also register to vote in Mansfield. When registering online, students should put their mailing address. The mailing address uses a student’s room number instead of street number and residence hall as the street name.
According to CT Insider, same-day registration locations are not necessarily the same as a resident’s usual polling place. These locations have the same hours as the election polls. Voters are advised to arrive early if they need to register to vote, as the process could be lengthy.
