The No. 1 recruit from the class of 2020, Paige Bueckers, verbally committed to UConn, as announced by Bueckers on Twitter Monday night.

In her tweet Bueckers posted photos of herself wearing UConn apparel as well as a note about her decision.

“As a young kid, I always dreamed of playing basketball at the Division I level, under coach Geno Auriemma at the University of Connecticut and now I take my first steps into realizing that dream,” Bueckers wrote.

Bueckers, a 5-foot-11 point guard from Eden Prairie Minnesota, will be joining the Huskies after the graduation of current point guard Crystal Dangerfield.

In 2018, Bueckers was a member of the USA U17 National Team where she averaged 9.7 points-per-game along with 4.7 assists. She was also a member of the USA U16 National Team in 2017.

Bueckers was named the Minnesota Gatorade Player of the Year for 2018 and 2019.

The last No. 1 recruit to commit to the Huskies was current freshman Christyn Williams.
